I have always wanted to retire early. The thought of dragging myself through the daily grind for all those years until I get to the point of total exhaustion, ill health or total dissatisfaction just never appealed to me. So, I always considered how can I work after I retire.
In this blog post, I am going to share with you the 6 best ways to get started. Perhaps I did manage to retire from the traditional daily grind a little early but it still took a little too long for me.

You work for most of your life, facing the daily commute to and fro and struggling to tolerate being pulled or pushed in the direction that others want you to go.

You are looking for options and, the sooner you can find them, the better it will be for you.
So, let’s explore!
1. Find Your Niche

One of the hidden secrets of working online is the fact that you can find your work or business idea in millions of simple ways. The first step is to discover where your passion, lies and what you are interested in.
This does not mean that you have to be an expert on the topic or even have any experience with it. Everything that you will need to start working is available to you right here, on the internet.
A niche can be anything!
Once you can think about it, you have a niche. And, it does not even have to be a product or service. It can be a simple idea.

I have 4 monetized websites on the internet in very different niches.
- Personal Development
- Making Money Online (MMO)
- Online Coaching and Entrepreneurship
- Affiliate Training and Community
That may seem to be a lot, but they each support the other and there is a lot of overlap. I chose a different strategy and decided to scale broadly from the beginning.
Deciding on your niche means taking a deep look at what interest you and will keep driving your passion for years to come. You may not get it with your first website and you may have to start over a couple of times or many.
That’s fine. The important thing is to choose a niche that you will enjoy spending a lot of time with because that is what you will be doing.
Your niche will be your new best friend.
2. Launch Your Website
Now that you have chosen your niche, your next step is to launch your website. Again, no rocket science or complexity here. Too many people are put off thinking that starting a website is difficult.
It is not.
With a few clicks of your mouse, you can launch your website in minutes. To begin with, you do not even need to have a domain of your own. Your website can be hosted on one of the internet’s most trusted platforms and you can do this for FREE.
Perhaps, your biggest decision will be a name for your website. There are many tools to help you with this. Be creative and use some out-of-the-box thinking to find your name.
For example, one Sunday evening in October 2019, I was on the internet looking for good coffee. I clicked on an ad that said something about one more cup of coffee.
As it turned out, that website had nothing to do about coffee. It is about building an online business so that you can enjoy one more cup of coffee in the comfort of your home.

3. Start Blogging
This is the point where people really start to feel intimidated. It can feel so overwhelming that it stops you dead in your tracks.
It doesn’t have to.
Blogging is one of the most liberating and engaging things that you can do. If you can create a meaningful business from doing so and generate a solid income, even better.
To make it even more motivating, you will be very happy to know that you do not need to have an English degree or be a writer to start. Anyone and I mean ANYONE, can become a writer and blogger.
With consistent research, practice and writing you will soon become an expert in your chosen niche. The important thing to remember here is, YOU HAVE TO BE CONSISTENT.
Did you know that as of December 2020, there are a staggering 2 billion websites on the internet? Those are some huge numbers. But, what is even more alarming is that less than 400 million of those websites are active.
Why is that?
Human nature. Most people do not finish what they start. This is not just on the internet but in life, generally. This is why there are a smaller number of successful people.
Starting a website is really easy. The hard part is sticking with it and developing it into a successful business. That is where you will make a difference.
4. Become an Affiliate Marketer
So, you have reached this far. You have:
- chosen a niche that you are passionate about and will enjoy working with.
- launched your website.
- started writing blog posts, consistently.
Excellent! You are now in the top 10% of people who get started creating new online work opportunities for themselves. This is the point where we start to separate the men from the boys, as they say.
It is at this juncture that you make the decisions to commit to your start to walk away. What I can guarantee is that, if you choose to stay and work through this process, you will quickly move into the next phase of monetizing your website by becoming an Affiliate Marketer.

A word of Caution here, before we move forward. This process that I am outlining for you is not a sprint, get-rich-quick scheme. This is a time-proven, sustainable way of building your online business to ensure that it will be here, earning you a passive and residual income for years to come.
This is a marathon and requires the same effort from you that you would put into starting up an offline, physical business. Do not expect instant results.
